Mason communication student landed internship with WUSA9 news

 

A George Mason University communication major landed an internship at WUSA9 news while still in high school.

 

Mary Tran is a senior concentrating in public relations and minoring in sports communication.

 

“As a news correspondent, I went to all sports events, covered the matches and created highlight reels and reports. That internship was the catalyst for the direction that I’m going in life,” said Tran.

 

“My parents pushing me to do extracurricular activities are where I grew my love for competition and sports,” she said.

At Mason, Tran is president of her sorority, Zeta Tau

Alpha, as well the director of operations of UrbanKnowlogy, her hip-hop dance team at Mason.

 

“I thrive really well in a team setting where the main goal is to support each other,” she said. “I feel like I find success within myself if I help others find their own success.”
